After a cool 2021, 2022 was marked by extreme heat, with temperatures between 35 and 40°C, more typical of the Mediterranean. Chateau Siran's vines have adapted well, but the climate is undeniably changing. With only 650 mm of rainfall instead of the usual 950 mm, yields were among the lowest at just 35 hl/ha. Harvesting began early and rapid vinification produced a wine full of fruit, sweetness and freshness. Although the yield was low, the quality was exceptional. This is really beautiful, with ripe strawberries, peaches, slate, smoke and a hint of graphite on the nose and palate. The 2024 MacMuir Pinot Noir is inky and dark, with transparent-feeling fruit on the middle palate and savory/fine tannins that shape the experience. There are notes of blackberry, black cherry, blood plum and cocoa. 13.9% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. I'm really impressed with the texture and intensity of the 2024 Pinot Noir MacMuir. Warm and juicy on the palate where the notes of ripe red fruit are found. A brilliant red, sporting cherry, raspberry, pomegranate and floral aromas and flavors. As this develops on the palate, notes of earth, iron and wild herbs add detail, showing fine balance and length. Drink now through 2036. Smoky and woodsy notes dominate the nose of this Gallo Nero, with touches of cinnamon and red cherries. Very restrained and almost austere on the nose. Crisp and tense palate with a medium body, firm grainy tannins and a good, youthful finish. Not fully ready to drink. It needs at least six months to hit its maturity. Best after 2025.
