Drawn from old vine Syrah on the granite laced slopes of Crozes Hermitage, this is a Northern Rhône red that captures the savoury side of the grape without losing its sense of place. Jean Luc Colombo has long had a knack for making approachable wines that still speak clearly of their origin, and this cuvée shows the pepper, dark fruit and stony freshness that make Syrah from this part of the Rhône so appealing. Taste Blackberry, black cherry and plum lead the way, followed by cracked black pepper, liquorice and a touch of violet. The palate is supple but structured, with fine tannins and a fresh mineral edge that keeps the ripe fruit in check. A polished, medium to full bodied Crozes Hermitage with both generosity and lift.
