## Description

The "Moment" sofa embodies a stripped-down and ingenious vision of seating furniture, bridging the gap between design and industry. Initially conceived as IKEA's first "flat-pack" sofa (meaning it can be disassembled and transported in a flat cardboard box), its design was inspired by a supermarket trolley during Gammelgaard's visit to a factory that manufactured them! It first appeared on the cover of the 1985 IKEA catalog. Today, it is a classic beloved by design enthusiasts. A sofa that continues the tradition of utilitarian design, boldly reimagined, designed for contemporary spaces with an architectural soul. Niels Gammelgaard designed two other products using the same manufacturing technique: the GUIDE shelf in 1984 and the MOMENT table in 1986.
