About the Parable of the Lost Sheep The Parable of the Lost Sheep appears in Matthew 18:12-14 and Luke 15:4-7. Jesus describes a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to search for the one that wandered, and rejoices more over the one found than the ninety-nine that never strayed. In Luke, the parable opens a trilogy with the Lost Coin and the Prodigal Son, all about losing, searching, finding, and rejoicing. Jesus Leaves the 99 captures the heart of the parable: Jesus alone in a wide, quiet field with the one He went after, the flock gathered nearby. Jesus Leaves the 99 Common Questions What is the meaning of Jesus Leaves the 99? Jesus Leaves the 99 depicts the Parable of the Lost Sheep, told by Jesus in both Matthew 18:12-14 and Luke 15:4-7. A shepherd leaves ninety-nine sheep safe in the field to search for the one that wandered, then rejoices more over the one found than the ninety-nine that never strayed. The parable teaches that every individual matters deeply to God, and that no single person is too far gone to be searched for. The painting shows the quiet of that moment: Jesus standing in a wide, misty field with the one He found beside Him, the flock gathered nearby. Is Jesus Leaves the 99 the same as the Good Shepherd? No. Jesus Leaves the 99 depicts a specific parable, the Lost Sheep of Matthew 18:12-14 and Luke 15:4-7, the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to go after the one that wandered and carries it home rejoicing. "The Good Shepherd" usually refers to the broader image of Jesus's words in John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd," an image of watching over and protecting the whole flock rather than searching for one lost sheep. They overlap in feeling but answer different searches: choose Jesus Leaves the 99 for the story of being personally sought out and found. Christian Modern offers several shepherd and lost-sheep pieces, linked throughout this collection, if you are comparing them side by side. Is Jesus Leaves the 99 a good Christian gift? Yes. Jesus Leaves the 99 is one of Christian Modern's most-loved pieces. It is most often given for baptisms, confirmations, Easter and Christmas, housewarmings for Christian couples, return-to-faith milestones, and as a gift between close friends or family who have walked through a hard season together. The neutral beige and off-white palette makes it a safe aesthetic choice when you do not know the recipient's decor style. The 48x32 inch ($480 framed) is an easy size to give; the 30x20 inch ($330 framed) is a popular choice for smaller walls and personal milestones. ## Explore More ### Agent sitemap - URL: https://refermate.com/sitemap.md - Description: Root discovery index for public Refermate pages. ### Store sitemap - URL: https://refermate.com/stores/sitemap.md - Description: Paginated index of markdown-friendly store pages. ### Christianmodern products - URL: https://refermate.com/store/christianmodern/products - Description: Browse more products from the same store. ### Christianmodern promo codes - URL: https://refermate.com/store/christianmodern/promo-codes - Description: Browse coupon codes, deals, and cashback for the same store.
