## Description

Set of Two Authentic Thonet Bentwood Armchairs, Austria – Late 20th Century This elegant pair of Thonet bentwood armchairs was crafted in Austria during the late 20th century, showcasing the timeless quality and innovation that define the Thonet name. Both chairs retain their original Thonet maker’s plaques, offering verified authenticity and collectible value. Constructed using Thonet’s signature steam-bent beechwood technique, these chairs feature continuous, curved frames that form integrated backrests and arm supports—a hallmark of bentwood design. Their graceful lines and minimalist structure reflect the enduring influence of early modernism and Bauhaus ideals. Each seat is adorned with intricate marquetry, showcasing decorative motifs in warm, contrasting wood tones. This artistic detail elevates the chairs from purely functional to visually compelling statement pieces. Dimensions (approx.): Height: 75 cm (29.5") Width: 55 cm (21.6") Depth: 58 cm (22.8") Seat height: 47 cm (18.5") Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and light use. The wood shows a rich, dark finish and natural patina. Structurally sound, with no cracks or repairs. Both chairs include the original Thonet labels affixed beneath the seats. Whether used as accent seating in a living room, office, or boutique interior, this pair brings heritage, craftsmanship, and European sophistication into any space. Thonet’s legacy of innovative furniture design spans over a century, and these Austrian-made armchairs embody that tradition with elegance and authenticity.
